For an Industrial Engineering professional with 10–15 years of experience, the role of an Industrial Engineering (IE) Manager in the RMG sector is a senior-level position focused on converting operational discipline into financial performance.
Position Overview
The IE Manager leads the Industrial Engineering function to drive efficiency improvements, optimize resource utilisation, and enhance factory productivity. This is a strategic role responsible for the “profit engineering architecture” embedded within manufacturing economics.
Core Responsibilities
Production Planning & Optimisation: Conduct full-line capacity studies and line balancing to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure minimum Work in Progress (WIP).
Standardisation: Develop and maintain Operation Bulletins (OB) and determine Standard Minute Values (SMV) or SAM for new and existing styles.
Efficiency Management: Monitor and improve factory efficiency, capacity utilisation, and hourly production across all departments.
Method Improvement: Implement process excellence methods, motion studies, and innovative techniques to improve productivity at minimum cost.
Cost Control: Analyse line costs (CM, EPM), calculate target metrics, and provide management presentations on efficiency dashboards.
Continuous Improvement: Lead the implementation of lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma projects.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate closely with Pilot, Production, Quality, and Merchandising teams during new product development and order execution
Team Leadership: Manage and mentor production teams, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Requirements & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial & Production Engineering (IPE), or a related discipline from a reputed university.
Experience: 10–15 years of relevant experience in RMG manufacturing (woven or knit).
Technical Expertise: Strong command of time studies, method studies, and low-SMV production systems.
Analytical Skills: Proficiency in IE software, MS Excel, MIS report writing, and data-driven decision-making.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead large-scale operations (e.g., up to 200 lines) and motivate personnel.
